Beginning with the 2026 fall season, the NJSIAA has simplified the way officials document sportsmanship and unsportsmanlike behavior. Officials will now have only two reporting options when submitting sportsmanship-related incidents. This is a change from last year, when there were three reporting options.  We believe this streamlined process will reduce confusion, improve consistency in reporting, and make it easier for all officials to accurately document sportsmanship and unsportsmanlike behavior.  Please see the new procedure below.

DQ Report (1 or 2 Game Sit)
A disqualification (DQ) indicates a direct violation of the sportsmanship policy. Any flagrant physical or verbal misconduct by a player or coach requires immediate ejection from the contest and results in an additional two-game suspension (one game for football).
The offending school must be notified by email or phone call no later than noon on the day following the contest. All DQ reports must be completed and submitted within 48 hours of the contest's conclusion.

Unsportsmanlike Report
Unsportsmanlike behavior includes any inappropriate conduct by players, coaches, spectators, or administrative personnel. Individuals who engage in such behavior may receive a warning or be ejected from the contest.
An ejection results in removal from the contest only and does not carry any additional penalties or suspensions unless otherwise specified by the NJSIAA or the schools involved.
